The Solar Project Manager provides project development, design, engineering and construction support for PV projects located in the UK on behalf of Skyray. The role requires being involved throughout PV project lifecycles, from design phase to operational handover. This Solar Project Manager role is specifically UK focussed and also includes client support responsibilities, a degree of business development and contributing to Skyray’s wider commercial activities in the UK.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Skyray is scaling up its activities in the UK and is already providing services to more than 1GW of solar projects and is looking for a talented Solar Project Manager. The role will be a mixture of:

  • Supporting the Senior Solar Project Manager with the management of existing UK projects.
  • Undertaking technical activities (including project documentation, design reviews and technical authoring).
  • Developing Skyray’s business and commercial activities in the UK, with the support of the technical expert team based in Lyon and our UK Partners.

This is a technical role but the ability to work with clients and interface seamlessly with an internal team is essential.

The candidate is expected to have, or if required, be willing to develop the required technical skills for the role such as site supervision/construction monitoring, tender support, PV plant design, energy assessments, etc.

The ideal candidate will have previously worked for an EPC or PV Developer and will probably have experience of UK PV projects or the UK market, but we are flexible regarding the level of previous experience since development support can be provided according to the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Main tasks

As Project Manager:

  • Development: provide technical support to Owners throughout the different project phases (feasibility studies, design, permitting, tendering, construction, commissioning).
  • Construction: an important part of your responsibilities will be on site. You will monitor construction, control quality and ensure construction works run smoothly and on time.
  • Cost: control internal costs to make sure projects are completed within budgets agreed with clients.
  • Coordinate: ensure coordination of the various project stakeholders (clients, external service providers, subcontractors, etc.).
  • Project administration: maintenance of client and project documentation, issue and review of project and technical reports.

As Business Developer:

  • Business development: attend industry events as required, receive and manage client support requests.
  • Commercial: prepare and support leads and proposals.
  • Regulations/standards: be familiar with (or develop pre-existing understanding of) the main national and international standards applicable to PV plants in UK and propose any optimisation/adjustments to internal templates, methods and processes.
